Outlier is a daily trivia game. We use the information needed to save your game, run the leaderboard and provide purchases. We do not use advertising trackers or sell personal information.
Your profile has a random identifier, a player name, an optional country or region you choose, and your leaderboard preference. We save your rounds, answers, scores, collection progress, submitted suggestions and purchase records. You do not need to provide an email or password to play.
The website uses an essential session cookie. The iOS app saves the session securely in your device’s Keychain. Theme and sound preferences are stored on your device. Clearing website cookies removes access to that browser’s profile. Your iOS game history belongs to its anonymous profile; it does not automatically synchronize to another device.
When public scores are enabled, your player name, chosen region and daily scores appear on the leaderboard. Players who have completed the same challenge can see the answers associated with public scores. You can turn public scores off in Settings. Aggregate answer popularity and collection ownership counts help power the game.
We keep answer suggestions and rejected answers to improve matching and question quality. When you choose “Submit anyway,” the prompt and answer may be checked against Wikipedia and, when configured, Google’s Gemini. We do not send your player name or profile identifier to those answer-checking services.
Apple processes in-app purchases on iOS. Stripe processes website payments when available. Outlier receives transaction identifiers and purchase status to unlock the archive and handle restoration and refunds. Outlier does not receive or store your payment card details. A web Archive Pass belongs to its browser profile. An Apple Archive Pass can be restored using the same Apple Account.
The public service uses Google Firebase for hosting and game storage. These services may process network addresses and operational logs to deliver and protect the game. Local development uses a local SQLite database. We restrict access to game data to the server and use HTTPS for the public service. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Settings lets you export your profile and game history or delete your profile. Deletion removes your saved rounds, profile, linked purchase records and submitted suggestions from the game server. Transaction identifiers marked as refunded or disputed may remain, without a game profile link, to prevent refunded purchases from being reused. De-identified aggregate or answer-quality records may remain. Payment processors retain records according to their own requirements. Deleting a game profile does not request a payment refund; an Apple Archive Pass can be restored afterward.
